Dhalaa is a question word meaning ‘where’ and nhama means ‘that’ when used in this context, together, Dhalaa nhama? Where is that? The map below is just an attempt at placing nameson a map – it should not be taken as gospel and ‘the truth’. It is just one attempt at putting place names back on the map.
This map uses archival sources as the primary means to produce names. Where multiple names in archival research exists for a location, all names are provided. I do my best to utilize current orthography to render them and utilize the dictionary and my language knowledge to suggest which one comes ‘closest’ in correlating names to places.
